Studies performed on healthy, premenopausal women in the Netherlands determined that Yaz, Yasmin, and Ocella (Yasmin generic) suffered an increased risk of venous thrombosis as compared to non-users. The risks were increased as high as five times with oral contraceptive pills. These reports were published in August 2009. This was simply the beginning of the contention surrounding Yaz, Yasmin, and Ocella and the consequent lawsuits to come involving Yaz side effects.
